- ➤ Local businesses hosted and will host several ribbon cuttings in Savannah this week. Judge Realty celebrated 21 years with a new 2,500-sqft headquarters on Waters Ave on Jan. 22, and upcoming events from Benjamin Franklin Plumbing to Fleurish Creative Studio are scheduled from Feb. 10 to April 21. - ➤ Tybee Island Fire Rescue responded Saturday afternoon to a call about a kayaker whose boat began filling with water near Tybee Creek; after nearly two hours of searching, rescue swimmers (aided by Marine Patrol and the Coast Guard) pulled him safely from the marsh with no injuries reported. - ➤ Candlelight: Best of Bridgerton on Strings returns to Savannah on Jan. 30. Doors open at 8 p.m. at the DeSoto Hotel — 15 E. Liberty Lane — offering an hour of live renditions with tickets from $38.50 to $66.00. Savannah Morning News
- ➤ Savannah leaders introduced a new Tier One film production rebate this month to boost independent films with a minimum $1 million budget. Productions must spend at least $500,000 locally to receive up to $100,000 in rebates — funds that will support local crew, vendors, hotels, and eateries. WJCL
- ➤ Telfair Museums announced the Walter and Linda Evans Gallery of African American Art will open on Feb. 6 at Telfair Academy. - ➤ The Savannah Downtown Business Association hosted its January State of Business in the Region luncheon on Jan. 27, where chamber presidents from Coastal Georgia shared economic trends for 2026.
