COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Local organizers hosted the 17th annual MLK community dinner on Monday, Jan. 19 to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.—neighbors gathered for a meal celebrating his legacy. WTOC 11
- ➤ Downtown traffic was rerouted for Savannah's annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade on Monday; streets at East Broad and Liberty closed at 9 a.m. to stage the parade beginning at 10 a.m. and vehicles in no parking zones were subject to towing until about 2 p.m. WJCL
- ➤ The 48th annual MLK parade took place Monday, Jan. 19 as roughly 300 units marched downtown to honor Dr. King, city officials said. Key streets and parking areas were closed, with staging areas beginning at 6 a.m. (free parking was offered outside no-parking zones). WTOC 11
- ➤ Today in Savannah, a nonprofit is combining shark research with a program that lets veterans name great white sharks in honor of fallen service members. Knot Lucky Fishing helps veterans manage PTSD through water activities while researchers collect data to protect the species. WTOC 11

- ➤ Port Wentworth passed an ordinance allowing data centers (sparking resident concern over low transparency), so local residents formed a Citizens Coalition to advocate for stronger permitting and water-saving rules.
