- ➤ Midtown Sports Grill hosted Traywick Trivia on Thursday at 7 p.m. to benefit the family of Matthew Traywick—fatally shot Jan. 4 in a Target parking lot—by offering trivia, raffle baskets, and donation bins on a first-come, first-served basis. WJCL
- ➤ Multiple warming centers are open as a cold front brings record lows this weekend. The Old Savannah City Mission at 2414 Bull St. is accepting donations while churches in Beaufort and Hilton Head Island offer meals, showers & transportation assistance. WTOC 11
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A house fire on the 8100 block of Waters Avenue displaced three adults and two children early this morning as fire officials said the blaze began near an electrical panel with no injuries reported. WTOC 11
- ➤ A New Hampstead High School basketball player broke his leg during today's game and waited nearly two hours for EMS before local sheriff intervention prompted his family to question the delayed response. WTOC 11

- ➤ Hussey Gay Bell promoted Monica Caley to BIM Manager at its Savannah Architectural Studio today in recognition of her leadership and technical skill in building information modeling. She will lead development and coordination of Revit models among design, engineering and construction teams. Savannah Business Journal
- ➤ Parker's Kitchen cut the ribbon at its 106th store in Port Wentworth at the intersection of Hwy. 30 + Hwy. 21 yesterday. The store introduced a new Fresh Blends beverage program and marked its 50th anniversary with a $100,000 donation to the local school system in a 6,065 sqft space. WJCL

EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ East Savannah United received a $20,000 grant from Georgia-Pacific Savannah on Friday, Jan. 16 to fund the construction of the new Early Childhood Learning Center in east Savannah; the 20,000 sqft facility will serve 144 children (six weeks to four years) and will open in spring. - ➤ Memorial Health University Medical Center began offering a minimally invasive robot procedure in April to treat hernias and GI issues and will treat 200 patients this year, up from 80 last year — doctors say the method may reduce long-term medication use. WJCL
