  • Senior Citizens Inc. partners with Starbucks to launch their 21st annual Blanket Drive Tuesday at 10 a.m. — donations can be dropped off at headquarters on Bull Street or designated locations at The Landings, and the drive runs through Feb. 13.  WTOC 11
  • The 2026 Visit Savannah Official Destination Guide is now available with essential visitor details, Chamber member listings and trip-planning inspiration to encourage longer stays; it is distributed at Georgia Welcome Centers, Visitor Information Centers and by request online (tour operators and lodging Chamber members may also obtain copies).  Savannah Chamber of Commerce

  • New Oak Theatre launches its inaugural season at Tybee Post Theater, introducing fresh live performances for the community. Additional show dates will be announced soon.  WTOC 11
  • Savannah offers a weekend of events including an immersive rock-umentary, live music and a classic film screening. Cinema Savannah presents Becoming Led Zeppelin on Jan. 9 at Otis S.   • Researchers report that 15 North Atlantic right whale calves have been spotted this season, already outpacing last year's count. Experts urge stronger protections from boat collisions & entanglement to help safeguard these critically endangered whales.  WTOC 11

  • Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce invites the business community to a Veterans’ Day Tribute and Military Briefing Luncheon on January 21 at the Air Dominance Center – Combat Readiness Training Center.   • Community leaders and state officials met in December to plan a water strategy for coastal counties, addressing permit expirations at the end of 2027. They will seek input on reallocating freed water from mill closures & new state upgrades to secure future supply.  The Current

  • Georgia health officials urged residents to get vaccinated as flu activity escalated with over 500 hospitalizations & seven deaths last week. The CDC reported a one-third spike in cases nationally and revised pediatric guidance through shared-clinical decision making.  Savannah Morning News
